Recently, I installed a new D-Link wireless router model DIR-655. After initial configuration, I got the following  message when connecting my notebook to the wireless router.

The message says “Validating Identity” and after a while the connection drop.

To fix the problem, follow the steps below.

1. Right click on the Wireless Network Connection icon and select Properties
2. Select Wireless Networks tab
3. Select the approriate wireless network and click Properties
4. On the new pop up window, select Authentication tab
5. Uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network

You should be able to connect now. Good Luck!
